V=Variety

Draw offers a multitude of ways to add variety to your projects. Experiment with some of the many options in Draw to give your project some unique qualities.

Line Variations
There are many ways you can customize lines in Draw. Using the object properties dialog, explore the settings for line width, and style. When you change the line to a wide width, there are also options for customizing caps and corners. For example, you can give your rectangle rounded, mitered, or beveled corners depending on the options you select in caps and corners. Don't forget there are also variations for line ends in Draw.

Text Variations
Text can also be manipulated in many ways to produce a variety of effects. You can start with the text effects in the style gallery, then use object properties to further customize your text.

Image Effects
The effects browser provides access to many image effects. The best way to learn what an effect does to your image is to try the effect using different options setting. Also, you can apply multiple effects to the same image for unlimited variations of effects.

There are six categories of effects from which you can choose: Artistic, Color Adjust, Distortion, Photographic, Texture, and Three-Dimensional.

  • Artistic effects let you transform an image so that it has the appearance of a specific art style. Artistic effects include Charcoal, Oil Painting, Pastel, Pop Art, and Watercolor.
  • Color adjust effects let you adjust the lightness, darkness, saturation, and contrast of the colors in an image. Color adjust effects include Color Balance, Color Saturation, Contrast/Brightness, Dither, Gamma Correction, Hue Adjustment, Posterize, and Threshold.
  • Distortion effects let you distort the picture by adding noise or blurring the image. Distortion effects include Add Noise, Blur, Color Noise, Edge Detection, Gaussian Blur, Graphic Pen, Motion Blur, Prism, Polar to Rectangular, Tunnel, Twirl, User-defined, Wave, and Wind.
  • Photographic effects let you improve the quality of an image. Photographic effects include Despeckle, Remove Pattern, Sharpen, Smooth, Stretch Detail, and Unsharp Mask.
  • Texture effects let you add the look of roughness or smoothness to an image.  Texture effects include Crystallize, Disturb, Emboss, Engrave, Facet, Metal, Mosaic, Pixelize, Splatter, and Stucco.
  • Three-dimensional effects let you add a 3D look to an image. Three-dimensional effects include Cylinder, Pillow, Pinch, Punch, and Sphere.

Shape Variations
There are a variety of tools for drawing shapes included in Draw. These allow you to easily draw shapes such as squares, circles, rectangles, polygons, ellipses, arrows, and many other "coolshapes".  By editing the points in an object, the possibilities are virtually endless.
